| The Roman Jaus barn located north of Gibbon MN. |
2007-09-29 The Jaus barn was built in 1928 and is 160 feet
in length. There are tie stalls for 72 head of milk cows and it is currently still in operation as a dairy now being operated
by the younger generation of the family. The barn is built of cement block with an outer facing of brick. The materials for
the barn were brought from New Ulm MN and at that time slate roofing was placed on the barn with "Jaus Holstein
Farm" emblazoned along the length of the roof. The slate roofing was difficult to maintain and more recently a steel
roof has been added to the barn. It is still an impressive barn with the cattle out grazing in the pasture nearby.

A barn in Washington Lake township, east of Green Isle, that is no longer used for dairy. Steers now occupy the cow yard.
An unusual style of barn. I would like to find some history on this barn.
Pictured
below are some more photos that I have recently added to the site. Just click on them to bring up the larger picture. I really
like the one of the red barn in Faxon with the full Hunter's Moon rising above it that was taken on October 25th. That
photo is also still on my Home Page.
